database editing

(excluding proprietary RAC equipment data)

Construction and Insulation Materials, Meteorological and Product (food) etc., databases suppplied with programs have been set to operate in 'Read Only' mode only. They therefore cannot be edited by program users. This is in order to ensure continuous program integrity. However program users may add their own additional data for automatic access by programs and which will appear alongside the originally supplied data and also operate in exactly the same way as the originally supplied data.

User generated additional data is identified in the database menus with an appended icon so as to clearly identify it as non original. Non original data cannot be guaranteed to have come from an official or a certified source as is much of the data originally supplied by Mistral with its programs. It may therefore be important for users to be aware of this, particularly in organisations where multiple users have access to the same programs.

A quick way of creating new database items, especially a complex item such as a new composite of materials, is to choose an existing similar item and then to copy it (by highlighting it on the menu and using the Copy button provided) and then to edit the copy, adding, changing or deleting its component data field parts as required.

For user convenience other databases (E.g. the Windows database or Doors database etc.) employ similar routines.
