What if I don't know the size of room that is needed?

Can Mistral's Coldwind refrigeration load calculation program actually advise what the size of a room should be in the first place?

The answer is yes. Whilst Coldwind normally 'presumes' room dimensions are already known, what if they aren't? What if a client approaches you and asks for example "What size of chiller room do I need to store 17.5 tonnes of fresh meat?

Mistral's carefully researched 'Quick Selection' room sizing logic revolves around established industry standards and operating conditions. As laid down by a consensus of leading 'End User' specifiers. Such as major supermarket groups, 'Fast Food' franchises, food wholesalers and distributors, and government bodies.

A wealth of information which took years of diligent and arduous work to assemble and then prove. Although largely unseen this vast amount of data works in the background and has been responsible for the successful design of tens of thousands of coldstores and freezers, throughout the entire world over the past four decades. From small restaurant 'Walk-ins' to the world's largest, in some cases multi-story coldstores. This data has never been challenged, has never been argued as defective in any way, and has never been questioned as to its total reliability.

So how can it help work 'in reverse' so to speak, and work out what is the best size for a room in the first place? Even before dimensions have been decided.

Simple. A little bit of common sense is required.

Any competent refrigeration engineer would or should be sufficiently experienced to have some idea, even if not yet sure of the precise dimensions needed. To both fit the available space and the all important client's budget, to come up with the most COMPETITIVE yet safe and efficient solution.

Start off by using Mistral's Coldwind 'Quick Selection' procedure and make an educated guess as to dimensions. This takes no more than 7 to 10 seconds!

With a solution now presented on screen, hover the Mouse cursor over the food category icon that was selected. This will display additional information about what design parameters, based upon established industry best practices, that were used for the project calculation. Naturally these will vary from the thousands of data items for product type to type, along with all other considerations such as ambient, design operation temperature, product entry temperature, recommended pull down times, machinery, lighting, personnel and other possible load items.

If the first 'intelligent guess' over or under estimated the required room size then with Mistral's unique, 'Dynamically Error Trapped' and Parallel Mode Operation, only a matter of seconds is needed to return to the graphical room design user interface to make adjustments.

In four decades Mistral has never seen any other software capable of achieving this, AND importantly, to do so with total reliability and accuracy.

Mistral's commitment:
Bringing the benefits of computerisation to our industry - without the historically associated problems.
