Mistral always maintained that it would not create free so called 'Demo' versions of its Expert System Software products. Apart from the costs associated with doing so, and which would have to be recovered from loyal, fee paying customers, there is a well known saying prevalent in the IT industry:- "People asking for Demos rarely have any intention of going through to making any purchase." Generally plagiarists, hackers and freeloaders, or simply time wasters. Another fact is that no one (other than companies amalgamating, a few that ceased trading or sadly, the deceased) has ever closed a Mistral account after signing up. Many of whom signed up over three decades ago. All the proof we need that Mistral unfailingly meets our highly valued customers' requirements. And some! Always at fair and equitable prices. Neither Mistral nor our loyal customers wish to subsidise competitors happy to profit from decades of our arduous hard work and huge, ongoing financial investment. Gaining orders at our expense, but without ever considering it only fair to contribute towards our costs. For this reason Mistral has offered short term, usually 30 day access of its products at a very low, break even fee. Recently however Mistral has been asked, not unreasonably, for a demo version with just 24 hours access. More than sufficient time for a serious prospect to see for themselves how good Mistral's products are and to confirm that these 'Do what it says on the tin.'
To offer this against a nominal fee would likely not recover Mistral's costs in administering the charge. Yes! Collecting and accounting for revenue costs money too! So Mistral is offering this service for free. Contrary to previously declared policy. Naturally downloaders are monitored and will be unable to make repeated requests, This would be grossly unfair to Mistral's thousands of fee paying licensees across the entire planet.
