Artificial Intelligence click all!
Millions of responsible citizens across the world believe that Artificial Intelligence is an unwanted, dangerous and totally irresponsible development in Information Technology.
A threat to the survival of Mankind itself.
Pundits of AI (Artificial Intelligence) claim that it can now be used to write a novel or compose a concerto.
Upon that basis some are prophesying that one day AI will be able to write any piece of software humans are ever
likely to need, all without aid from humans. To that we say bullshit!
Not impossible to hook up a future computer to some incredibly sophisticated, mythical Internet repository of all the world's acquired knowledge (that rules out Wikipedia for a start then!). And therein lies the problem. Probably as much as half the world's recorded knowledge is wrong. From the four thousand or more religions that continue to wreak so much misery upon mankind (surely 3,999 religions + or - can't ALL be wrong!) to all the lies, airbrushed images and exaggerated claims made about Global Warming. Not one day ever passes without dozens of once cherished beliefs and even scientific and medical facts being turned upon their head.
We are also aware that when in 1984 Mistral started developing software systems, much of the data we needed simply did not exist and much of it even today is scarce. We had to search for acres of empirical data, which were paid for when any found not to be in the Public Domain and thus Royalty free. This we used for developing our own, unique, algorithms. To these we invented and added a system of 'Dynamic Error Trapping' and which is capable of both teaching itself and dealing with literally an infinity in numbers of mistakes our system users could theoretically make. Then we test, test, test, and test again. And we are still testing today, over four decades later. Processes which have absorbed over 20 million Euros (US$21.5m) in investment so far.
Certainly there is enough recorded data to use AI to design something like a jet airliner and which is far more ubiquitous than Mistral's target of energy analysis software. Then matching this to commercial needs of manufactured products selection, all with essential highly complex duty or performance corrections. A pity Boeing didn't get around to using a bit more simple intelligence, let alone any of the artificial sort!
An even more sobering thought is that with so many opposing ideologies, all espousing falsified legacies and histories, coupled with so much enmity and animosity towards fellow humans, than a future dependent upon AI could only ever have one inevitable outcome. Total all out global war resulting in extinction of mankind.
Let's hope that someone, somewhere or if not then some remarkable piece of diplomacy AI arrives in time and which
everyone upon the planet simultaneously heeds in sufficient time to avert such a catastrophe.
