A M Mouron using nom de plume Cassandre, was an exceptional, highly talented and pioneering commercial artist of the early 20c. Designing celebrated posters and wall painting advertisements for explosive growth in express rail travel, luxury cruise liners and popular beverages. Originating his own now classical, post Cubism, Art Deco style his works once adorned seemingly almost every street corner, rail trackside and commercial building in France. Creator of unique, charming, unmistakably French icons. Sadly now few remain and of those that do then as they are no longer maintained, also a now proscribed advertising medium, their days are numbered as shamefully they inexorably crumble away. A huge loss to one of France's unique, iconic charms.
Mistral's HQ visitor reception area presented a six metre long blank wall. An ideal site for creating a tribute to one of our heroes. The subtle 'reverse' perspective of the text practically shouts at the observer. Leaving a memorizing impression as it flashed past on a railway trackside at nearly a hundred miles per hour! Two days in July 2025 for artisans to create the 'Shiplap' wall façade and two weeks to research and then create the mural.
At least one iconic example to be saved for France.
