Personal lifetime path to Energy.

Carbon is everywhere. Carbon isn't the bad guy. That's for sure. You and me are made of it.

Equally as sure is that it is relatively easy to create combustible fuel from practically anything around us. Some such 'syntheses' is easy. Like converting used chip fryer cooking oil effectively into diesel for example. Practically everyone is aware of this one. Except maybe for those living under a stone, and Donald Trump.

Seriously, the rub comes though when the amount of energy required to synthesise exceeds the amount of energy released by 'burning' the fuel created.

When I was about 12 years old I studied a thesis demonstrated by a Sankey diagram sankey_energy_diagram.gif
I wasn't asked to. It wasn't in my curriculum or in my school Silly Bus, but I studied it anyway. I drew up my own Sankey charts. In one study I postulated the idea of regenerative braking for vehicles. Decades before engineers discovered the idea for EV's.

I took some of my work to show my school mates. Not my teachers. Our head master at King Edward VII Grammar School, King's Lynn, psychopath A H Sleigh, also Biology teacher, spotted one of my charts, a large 'A1' sheet of paper, looked at it for a second or two, asked "What the hell is this?" and without waiting for my answer ripped it in half and screwed it up. I wasn't particularly bothered. Bit of a waste of my newly discovered and at the time novel felt tip coloured pens and a valuable bit of paper, which I had anyway stolen from the Art room. But that was all. The effect upon me though was to become determined to discover everything I could about energy. Pure and simple. From Solar, to combustion engines, to steam power, electricity and nuclear. I went on to gain a 1 in 'O' Level Physics, a fair 3 pass in 'O' Level Biology, Mainly because I hated my teacher! And a dismal fail 9 in 'O' Level Maths. Mainly because my head master and Biology teacher hated me.

Boast moment. I have made over 3.5 million Pounds so far pursuing my interest and 57 year career in Energy. Through employment and subsequently creating my own business. And counting! Not all earnings ending up in my own pocket, because frankly avarice is of little interest to me.

Forward my story to as many as you wish. Poor teaching and exam fails do not mean you are destined to fail.
