Inflation

This is not a boast, as inflation is the main culprit. However I check currency X rates quite frequently. At least weekly. We have to. At the same time, out of curiosity I sometimes check the BOE (Bank of England) official inflation calculator.

I was a tad surprised to discover I now earn, every single day in figures at least, exactly the same as my annual salary at my first full time job. As a draughtsman in Bristol back in 1969.

They were mean bastards! Glad now they fired me. For poor time keeping.

"There is no problem with your work Chris. It's just that you are invariably late turning up. You seem to come to work from a different direction every morning. Do you have difficulty getting out of your bed?"

"No Mrs Household*. It isn't my bed I have difficulty getting out of."

My reply did not set me up well for a possible reprieve. I have never been late for work since.
