A retired old couple keep a large black Labrador. A gentle and faithful companion. One day the dog fails to come home after wandering across a nearby field. The couple search everywhere for days and are clearly distraught. Overwhelmed with grief.
A week later the old couples' kindly next door neighbours are driving through their village and they spot the dog gamely trotting along the pavement. They are so happy to find their dear friends' dog and so stop to pick it up.
The dog is having none of it and puts up a fearsome fight.
After tens minutes of scratching and biting the exhausted animal is finally bundled into the space between the front seats in their battered old Deux Chevaux. They cannot wait to break the good news to their dear friends.
"We found your dog. We've got him!" They yell."
"It isn't possible!" Respond the friends.
"Yes, really, he's outside in our car."
"It isn't possible because he isn't a he but a she. She walked through the front door yesterday and is now asleep, curled up in front of our fire."
