Don't turn this.. .spacer_transparent.gif. .. into this!

Most both fresh and cooked food freezes well. Some better than others. Here is a short list however of foods which in our opinion should not be frozen. As these do not recover well. Either through damage to cell structure turning them mushy, or to flavour loss, or unrecoverable ingredient separation upon thawing.

Raw potatoes
Lettuce and similar salad
Fresh eggs
Mayonnaise
Soft cheese
Crumble topped deserts
Coffee beans
Spices
Strawberries
ANY food previously frozen and since thawed

Some will disagree. All a matter of taste. Occasionally strawberries recover reasonably well, in a flan for example. But not often. IMPORTANT! Re-freezing once frozen and subsequently thawed food is pathologically dangerous! Only exception being food cooked at high temperature soon after thawing.
